Nurah Abokar

Founder & CEO

As a Somali changemaker, Nurah brings a personal and cultural understanding to her work, recognizing the sensitivity and care required to address FGM. Nurah is passionate about international relations and civic engagement; it's the driving force behind her advocacy. She has authored an award-winning published article examining the advent of FGM in the United States and the policy required to combat it. She is also a four-year member of her school’s Associated Student Body.

Sofia Romero

Secretary & Director of Marketing

Sofia is a passionate student leader  with a strong interest in communications. She currently serves as the Senior Class President of her school’s Associated Student Body. Beyond her in school leadership, Sofia is the Media Chaplain for Youth in Government, combining her love for storytelling and policy to amplify youth voices. She also enjoys expressing her entrepreneurial side through her babysitting business, Sofia’s Sitting.

 

 

 

 

Britney Mofunoyi

Vice President

Britney Mofunoyi is a driven advocate who's passionate about social justice, entrepreneurship, and cultural awareness. She strives to create spaces where young people can learn, speak up, and take meaningful action in their communities. Inspired by her mother’s resilience and creativity, she channels her entrepreneurial spirit through my braiding business, Braids by Britney.

Emma Almawy

Director of Events & Outreach

Emma serves as a dedicated youth advocate passionate about supporting children and mental health awareness. She is the Secretary of the Bianca Foundation Club at her school and the Secretary of the Orphan Aid Association, a nonprofit committed to providing resources and support to orphaned and foster children both locally and globally. She is also currently pursuing her real estate license.
